most balloons are tracked by APRS beacons. the frequency in the usa is 144.39 MHz. if you listen you may just hear a buzzing. the buzzing is data being sent by balloons and also by local hams sending out beacons on the same aprs frequency. a good way to track these ham beacons is to use the map below or use the website at aprs.fi
